Renowned actor David Gail, best known for his portrayal of Dr. Joe Scanlon in over 200 episodes of the General Hospital spinoff series Port Charles, has sadly passed away at the age of 58.
Gail’s acting career spanned various roles, and among his notable credits was his portrayal of Stuart Carson, the fiancé of Shannen Doherty’s Brenda Walsh in the iconic Beverly Hills, 90210. He also brought life to the character Dean Collins in the WB drama Savannah.
The news of David Gail’s passing was shared by his sister, Katie Colmenares, who took to Instagram on Friday to announce the heartbreaking loss. In a poignant tribute, she remembered her brother as not only her “wingman” but also her “best friend.” As of now, the cause of Gail’s death has not been disclosed.
In a heartfelt Instagram post accompanied by a photo of the siblings sharing a hug, Katie expressed, “There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side, always my wingman, always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone with me.”
“The bears will never be the same, but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart, you gorgeous, loving, amazing, fierce human being. Missing you every second of every day forever; there will never be another,” she added.
Born in 1965 in Tampa, Florida, according to his IMDB page, Gail had a diverse career in the entertainment industry. His early credits included appearances on popular shows such as Growing Pains, Doogie Howser, M.D., and Murder, She Wrote in the early 1990s.
In 2002, he graced the big screen opposite Bradley Cooper and Colleen Porch in the romantic comedy Bending All the Rules. Gail’s filmography also includes notable roles in the 2004 film Perfect Opposites.
David Gail’s untimely passing has left a void in the entertainment world, and fans and colleagues alike remember him for his versatile talent and contributions to beloved television shows and films.
