Randy Savage & Stephanie McMahon: The Most Notorious Rumor In WWE History, Explained

A rumor has endured for decades that WWE wrestler Randy Savage slept with Stephanie McMahon. But is it true or false?

There is a lot about McMahon that fans should know about, both inside and outside his professional wrestling career and life. He is certainly one of the more fascinating names (again, not necessarily a great thing) to have ever walked into the industry, which means that fans will likely be invested in a lot of details about him including personal information, facts, and more.

8 Vince McMahon Didn’t Have The Easiest Childhood

McMahon Didn’t Meet His Father Until He Was 12

  • McMahon grew up away from the spotlight and away from wrestling
  • His step-father was abusive
  • He was raised under the name “Vinnie Lupton”

He may have grown into a billionaire in charge of the biggest professional wrestling company of all time, but he did have relatively modest beginnings with quite a tough childhood. After his father left when he was just a child, McMahon grew up in an abusive household thanks to his step-father. McMahon was brought up with his step-father’s surname, but this was changed when he finally met his father at age 12.

Additionally, McMahon grew up with dyslexia, which did make education harder. Eventually though, he met his father, who was already involved in the professional wrestling world with his own promotion, and McMahon went on to pursue a career in this line of work.

He Was On Play-By-Play Before Becoming Owner

  • After meeting his father, McMahon got involved in CWC
  • McMahon’s first job was play-by-play
  • He wanted to become a wrestler but he was prevented by his father

When McMahon joined his father’s promotion of the CWC, he wanted to get involved in some way, shape, or form, initially as an in-ring performer. His father prevented this from happening, but instead put him on the commentary desk (a role he would continue to be a part of for two more decades even when he was the owner of WWE). Prior to this he also did some ring announcing too.

McMahon’s commentary style is one which isn’t to everyone’s tastes, but when looking back through WWE history he was a part of some iconic calls.

6 Vince McMahon Bought WWE In 1982

He Purchased The Company From His Father

  • McMahon formed the Titan Sports company
  • He purchased the then “WWF” in 1982 from his dying father
  • McMahon left the NWA and monopolized the industry

Vince McMahon & Linda McMahon had their own company called Titan Sports, and this is how they would buy the company from Vince McMahon Sr. in 1982, just two years before he died.

McMahon began making some big changes, monopolizing the industry by removing the WWE from the National Wrestling Alliance. The business was territory based at the time, but McMahon wanted the whole continent.

He continued growing WWE and putting territories out of business. The culmination of a lot of this growth was the first ever WrestleMania and the rise of the HulkaMania craze.

5 Vince McMahon Has Been Embroiled In Several Scandals

  • The Steroid Scandal nearly tore down McMahon & WWE
  • The Rita Chatterton scandal re-emerged in 2022
  • Sexual assault allegations have emerged surrounding Vince McMahon in recent years

Recent news of allegations in a lawsuit is just one of many controversies Vince McMahon has been involved in. For instance, former WWE referee Rita Chatterton received a huge sum of money after allegations surfaced of alleged abuse in the 1990s. McMahon’s camp denied any wrongdoing, though millions of dollars were supposedly paid.

McMahon was acquitted in the end. There have been a number of other allegations of the years, with the 2024 lawsuit now being the most prominent, with it causing McMahon to resign from WWE and TKO due to the storm it brought down on the company.

4 Vince McMahon Has Had Several Other Business Ventures

  • McMahon once owned a Hockey team
  • He founded the XFL to go up against the NFL
  • McMahon founded the World Bodybuilding Federation

Although Vince McMahon is most well known for expanding WWE to an international powerhouse, he has dipped his toes into other ventures. He and wife Linda McMahon owned a Hockey team called the Cape Cod Buccaneers, though that wasn’t a long-lasting project. Later, McMahon would found the WBF, attempting to put “sports entertainment” into the world of bodybuilding. By 1992, the WBF was discontinued.

McMahon also tried to tackle the world of American Football with the creation of the XFL, which failed upon its two major launches. The XFL ownership changed hands after bankruptcy was filed in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then bought by none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

McMahon Is A Fairly Tall Individual

Billed Height

Last Billed Weight

6 foot 2 inches

248 lbs

Vince McMahon, despite not being a professional wrestler himself, certainly fit the bill and look of one. With enormous arms and crazy physique, in addition to him being 6 foot 2 in height, on the odd occasion where he did step foot in the ring, he didn’t look out of place by any means.

McMahon managed to face off with many of his wrestlers despite his often superior age to his employees.

1 Vince McMahon Is 78 Years Of Age

McMahon Is Nearing His 80s

Date Of Birth

Place Of Birth

August 24, 1945

Pinehurst, North Carolina, US

As recently as this year, Vince McMahon still had an active role in the business side of WWE despite being 78 years of age. He was born all the way back in the 1940s, not purchasing WWE until he was in his 30s. For nearly half a century after that, McMahon was the leading figurehead behind WWE’s rise to glory, which is crazy when you think about it.

There are not many who continue to have so much power reaching this sort of age, but McMahon did until recently. It is also crazy to think that McMahon was wrestling and taking bumps in the 1990s when he was already around his 50s.
