Angelina Jolie Denounces Israeli Airstrikes In Gaza As ‘Deliberate Bombing Of A Trapped Population’

Renowned actor and humanitarian, Angelina Jolie, has strongly criticized the Israeli air strikes in Gaza, characterizing them as a deliberate assault on a population with no means of escape. In a heartfelt statement shared on her Instagram account, accompanied by a photo revealing the devastation caused by a recent fatal airstrike at Gaza’s largest refugee camp, Jabalia, Jolie did not mince words.

In her Instagram post, Angelina began with a powerful statement: “This is the deliberate bombing of a trapped population who have nowhere to flee. Gaza has been an open-air prison for nearly two decades and is fast becoming a mass grave. 40 percent of those killed are innocent children. Whole families are being murdered.”

Jolie went on to address the international community, expressing her dismay at the ongoing atrocities inflicted on “millions of Palestinian civilians.” She stated, “While the world watches and with the active support of many governments, millions of Palestinian civilians – children, women, families – are being collectively punished and dehumanized, all while being deprived of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid in violation of international law. World leaders, by failing to demand a humanitarian ceasefire and obstructing the UN Security Council from imposing one on both parties, bear responsibility for these grave offenses.”

Accompanying her message was an image depicting the heartbreaking aftermath of Israel’s airstrike on Jabalia, as well as a brief description of the refugee camp by the UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees). The description highlighted the significance of Jabalia refugee camp, which is the largest among Gaza Strip’s eight refugee camps, sheltering Palestinian refugees who fled their villages during the 1948 conflict. It remains an area of only 1.4 square kilometers and is home to 116,011 registered Palestinian refugees, even 75 years after the events of 1948.
