Anne Hathaway and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Michaela Coel will star in Mother Mary, an “epic pop melodrama” directed by David Lowery for A24, the Oscar-winning studio behind Everything Everywhere All at Once. The project brings Lowery back to A24 after the filmmaker’s acclaimed hallucinatory fantasy of 2021’s The Green Knight and 2017’s A Ghost Story.

Lowery wrote the screenplay for Mother Mary, which the studio describes as an “epic pop melodrama following a fictional musician and his relationship with an iconic fashion designer.” In addition, Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo and Jonathan Saubach from the Cologne film production Augenschein will produce.
