The UFC CEO Said The UFC Debutante Ruined His Career

Iole shared a message from White that read the following:

“Those were two up-and-coming undefeated fighters. If you get frustrated and want out of the fight, there are plenty of ways to do it, but the worst thing you can do is bite your opponent. Now, you get cut and lose the biggest opportunity of your life. Not to mention, he’s going to have real problems with the NSAC.”

The fighter, who goes by the name Igor da Silva on Instagram has not released a statement since suffering his first loss by bizarre circumstances. Before the bout he had an 8-0 record and was the Jungle FC flyweight champion.

White was so impressed that Lima got a tattoo of the bite that he doubled his bonus from $25,000 to $50,000.

Lima Expressed Disappointment With Being Bitten During His Debut

In his UFC debut in Sin City, Severino attempted to refute accusations of biting his opponent when confronted by the referee. However, his protests proved futile. “You bit him,” Tognoni informed Severino, who adamantly denied the accusation.

“Yes, you bit him,” the referee reiterated, explaining to one of Severino’s team members, “Anytime there are upper and lower teeth marks, that’s a bite.”

This defeat marks the first in Severino’s professional mixed martial arts career. Lima, also making his UFC debut, recounted to ESPN afterwards, “I was landing significant strikes, but then he bit me when I attempted a takedown. I was prepared to continue the assault, to keep engaging and finish the fight, but as you witnessed, that’s when I yelled. He bit me.”
