Dana White, the CEO of the UFC, has expressed his disapproval of Jake Paul’s upcoming bout against boxing legend Mike Tyson. The announcement of the YouTuber-turned-boxer facing the boxing legend at AT&T Stadium in Texas on July 20 has sent shockwaves through the combat sports world.

At 57 years old, Tyson will be stepping back into the ring nearly two decades after his last professional fight, which ended with a knockout loss to Kevin McBride in June 2005. Tyson impressed onlookers when he fought Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match in 2020.

White has made his stance clear on the matchup and roasted Paul’s boxing credentials in a recent interview.

White said Paul cannot compete with fighters his own age and referenced his loss to Tommy Fury, who was the first pro boxer Paul faced. In an interview with the podcast Pound 4 Pound hosted by Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, the UFC boss said the following:

“I love Mike and I hate talking about it because he always gets mad when I talk about this stuff, but when the fight happens he will be 58-years-old. There will be a 31-year age difference, Jake Paul did fight a kid his age and lost. I just saw this thing on the internet yesterday, if he beats Mike Tyson, he’s gonna fight Clint Eastwood next, Clint Eastwood is 93 years old.”

White joins many who has criticized the matchup due to the age gap between Tyson and Paul.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer donated $5,000 to women’s flyweight fighter Sarah Alpar, who launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover her UFC training camp fees and living expenses. This generous gesture underscores Paul’s dedication to supporting fellow athletes and advocating for improved financial conditions within the sport.
