Highlights

  • Jade Cargill signs with SmackDown, promises to shake things up as a once-in-a-lifetime talent.
  • WWE slow-plays Cargill’s debut, aiming to make the right first impression in the stacked women’s division.
  • Speculation rises on Cargill’s potential role at WrestleMania 40, with eyes on matchups with top talent.

WWE announced on Friday night that Jade Cargill made her decision. She has officially signed with the SmackDown brand and will be debuting next week as a member of the roster.

While Cargill has appeared on the blue brand before, she’s yet to do so as an official member of the roster. WWE aired a vignette featuring Cargill during Friday’s show. She noted in the video, “Let’s make things clear. I didn’t come here to be the next anyone.” She added:

“Jade Cargill is a once-in-a-lifetime generational talent. I’m the type of presence that makes everyone sit up and stand up straight when I enter. I don’t even have to speak and I’m the trending topic. I am the headline. They’re going to build statues of me and you don’t have to like it. But you damn sure can’t deny it.”

It’s not clear how quickly WWE plans to place her in the ring or where she’ll fit, but the video did only promise she would make an appearance. The company has been slow-playing her debut. She appeared at The Royal Rumble but has yet to have a singles match on either of the flagship shows. Instead, she’s been training at the WWE Performance Center in preparation for her splash on the main roster.

Has WWE Messed Up Their Handling Of Jade Cargill?

Jade Cargill made an incredible in-ring debut at the 2024 Royal Rumble, but she has barely been used by WWE.

The belief is that WWE only gets one chance to make their first impression as they push her as a legitimate threat in the Women’s Division. They want to get it right. And, considering the depth of the women’s roster, she needs to be up to speed.

Will Cargill Be A Part of WrestleMania 40?

The timing of this announcement is intriguing. That she’s making a debut before WrestleMania 40 seems to hint that WWE might have plans for her to be part of the event. In what capacity remains unclear. That said, there are plenty of talents on the roster who don’t have a spot on the WrestleMania 40 card yet. That includes Bianca Belair who many believe would be the ideal matchup.

Cargill has the potential to be a massive star on the roster. With Bayley, Bianca Belair, Naomi, and al of Damage CTRL on the SmackDown roster, there are plenty of options to set Cargill up for huge success.
