“Kim is among the biggest and brightest TV stars in the world and we are so excited to welcome him to the AHS family,” AHS co-creator Murphy said in a statement to THR. “Emma and I are delighted to be working with this true cultural force. Halley Feiffer has written a role that is funny, stylish, and ultimately terrifying, especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we’ve done before. (Hollywood reporter)

Murphy and Kardashian are friends, and the prolific TV producer and filmmaker is said to have been impressed with her well-received 2021 hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live. They began talking last summer about developing a one-off role for their scripted television debut. Details about Kardashian and Roberts’ roles are being kept under wraps, though writing about Kardashian’s involvement was on the wall this morning with a cryptic Instagram post from her account – the most followed worldwide.

Although Kardashian has acted before, this will be her most outstanding performance to date. The series has been a revolving door for big names ever since it approached Jessica Lange in season one and cast Lady Gaga in season five.

The move also sees Kardashian doubling down on her relationship with Disney, where she and her family launched the reality show The Kardashians on Hulu just a year ago. The station is also the de facto digital home of Disney’s own FX programming board.

Roberts has been part of the rotating AHS cast since the 2013 Coven entry and has also appeared in the Freak Show, Cult, Apocalypse, and 1984 entries. She returns to the franchise after a four-year hiatus.

American Horror Story is one of the longest-running and highest-grossing films in Ryan Murphy Productions’ core television portfolio, having received more than 100 Emmy nominations and 13 wins to date.
