However, the British fighter has plans to move on from the welterweight division. Expressing a desire for new challenges, Edwards is contemplating a move to the middleweight division. Edwards Wants To Become The First Double Champ From The UK

In an interview with Sky Sports, Edwards was asked about a prospective move to the middleweight division, to which he responded: “100 percent, definitely,” Edwards responded. “I feel especially with someone like Strickland, and I think he’s fighting Du Plessis soon, so either of them two would be great to fight.” When asked how he would match up with middleweights, the British champion is confident that he has the size. “I’m big myself. I feel like that would be perfect. I feel like me going out and being double-champ, first ever from the UK to do it. That’s definitely one of my goals. That’s on the cards for sure.”

Rocky Edwards said he would be willing to move up following the Covington fight, and claimed that the division lacked excitement following his friend Israel Adesanya announcing an extended break. Strickland shocked the world by defeating Adesanya at UFC 293. Adesanya was coming off a knockout victory over Alex Perriera who finished Strickland in just one round.
