In a recent interview on “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani, WWE Superstar, and YouTuber-turned-boxer, Logan Paul opened up about his decision to return to the world of boxing, emphasizing his passion for combat sports and his ambition to build a legacy. Considering he’s got a multi-year contract with WWE and they have invested heavily in him as a major crossover star, Helwani was curious to know if Paul’s two passions conflicted.
When asked why he returned to boxing, Paul expressed his deep connection to the world of combat sports, stating, “I don’t know what else to do, Ariel. I really don’t know what else to do. I have this frame that is attuned for combat.” He added, “It’s a good vehicle for the business that I’m building. It’s just a good platform and I love it.”
That led to questions about his run in WWE and Helwani wanted to know if going back to boxing was at all related to him not being totally fulfilled in WWE. He responded, that he’s WWE first, but he’s got a combat sports itch and boxing offered a unique level of intensity and violence that appealed to him. He pointed out that boxing ignited a certain part of his brain that wrestling didn’t and vice versa, which is why he enjoys moving between the two. “Boxing is just so much more intensely violent.” He added, “I like going back and forth. Also, who’s doing it? I gotta make a legacy somehow.”
How Does WWE Schedule His Time?
Regarding how his boxing pursuits align with his WWE contract, Paul noted that scheduling can be challenging, as he is technically a full-time wrestler with WWE. However, he is determined to achieve success in both worlds and aims to win WWE championships. He emphasized that he didn’t join WWE just to participate but to take over. WWE has been accommodating in helping him balance both endeavors.
“I am technically a full-time wrestler,” he said. “I’m on the roster, I have a contract, and it’s also a goal of mine to get WWE championships.” For WWE, the press is probably a great thing. In fact, he said WWE tried to help line up and was hoping to promote a fight between him and Nate Diaz. Logan figured it didn’t happen because Nate wanted to fight his brother Jake Paul.
