Dern showed off her stunning smile in a video clip before her fight with Lemos before transitioning to a image of her bloody and bruised face after the fight. “Two stories for the feed. A video of the road to war, and after going through it!,” she wrote in the Instagram caption.

Dana White, the CEO of UFC, commended Mackenzie Dern’s resilience following her bout against Lemos, noting that despite her loss, Dern emerged from the fight relatively unscathed. Dern, with a record of 13-5 in her MMA career, showcased her durability and will to win after suffering a knockdown in the fight.

“We were convinced that she had a broken orbital,” an incredulous White said at UFC 298’s post-fight press conference, continuing “When she went down with the eye thing, we were convinced it was a broken orbital and she fought through it. I’m shocked that it’s not [broken]. She’s so tough — so tough. She’s awesome.”

Now, it’s time to correct the mistakes and keep up the hard work! Congrats to @amandalemos_ufc for an amazing fight! FOTN for us!”

The women’s strawweight bout between Dern and Lemos served as the headline event for the UFC 298 preliminary fight card at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Following losses to former champion Jessica Andrade and Lemos in her recent fights, Dern finds herself in a precarious position.

Meanwhile, Lemos bounced back from a title loss to Zhang Weili and solidified her place in the Top 3 rankings within the division with her victory and eyes a fight with Tatiana Suarez.
