Highlights

  • Mercedes Moné is set to make an anticipated debut in AEW, possibly signaling a major role in the Women’s Division.
  • Moné hinted at a return to WWE in the future, thanking the company for her career but stating she has unfinished business.
  • Some fans are concerned that Moné joining AEW might be financially motivated, with speculation about her commitment to the promotion.

Formerly known as Sasha Banks in WWE, Mercedes Moné is set to make her much-anticipated debut in AEW, with all signs pointing to the upcoming Dynamite episode in her hometown of Boston. Labeled “Big Business”, the belief is that Moné is a big part of AEW’s plans for the Women’s Division. The announcement has sparked considerable interest, especially given Mercedes’ status as a free agent over the past few months and speculation WWE was making a push to bring her back.

In a recent appearance on the Kick Rocks Wrestling Podcast with Evan Mack, Mercedes Moné hinted at a possible return to WWE in the future, stating, “I know I’m gonna be back there one day. Like I said, I have a lot of unfinished business in a lot of places.” She added that she was thankful for the career they gave her, the life they gave her, and the fans they gave her.

Some fans are already responding to the video suggesting this is not a good sign for AEW. They argue that it appears she’s joining AEW exclusively for the money and once she makes her big payday, will be looking to leave.

This revelation comes after a messy breakup with WWE in May 2022, where she, along with Naomi, left due to creative differences. Naomi has returned to the company and is an active member of the SmackDown roster. Moné is supposedly not ready to return to her former employer yet.

Following her departure from WWE, Moné resurfaced in different promotions. She continued her pro wrestling career in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and after winning and then dropping the title, showed up in the crowd at an AEW event. It was speculated she was negotiating with both WWE and AEW, with her contract ask beyond what WWE was comfortable doing. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported last month that Mercedes has been heading to AEW and has been on their payroll for a while.
