Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere kiss incident: Obscenity case against actress dismissed by Mumbai court

In 2007, Shilpa Shetty was in controversy for a kiss scene with Richard Gere. According to the latest sources, a Mumbai magistrate court on Monday rejected a petition challenging a magistrate’s decision to clear Shilpa of charges stemming from Richard kissing her in public in 2007. For those who don’t know, Richard kissed Shetty on the cheeks during AIDS. awareness workshop in Rajasthan to promote the idea that HIV is not transmitted by kissing.

Later, a complaint was filed against Richard and Shetty under sections 4 and 6 of the Indecent Depiction of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986, section 67 of the Information Technology Act, and sections 292, 293 and 294 of the Indian Penal Code. According to the most recent information in this regard, the session court now confirms the decision to discharge the actress. Additional Sessions Judge SC Jadhav denied the MRA Marg Police’s appeal against the lower court’s ruling.

In January last year, Shilpa Shetty was cleared of the case after Metropolitan Magistrate Ketaki Chavan noted that the charges against her were unfounded. In her order, the court said: “On reading the complaint, it appears that the present defendant, ie, Shilpa Shetty, is the victim of alleged acts of defendant No. 1 (Gere).” In her plea, the Dhadkan actress claimed to be a victim of malicious proceedings and harassment. Ella Shilpa reportedly said that she would file a separate proceeding against the whistleblower for starting a false case.
