Highlights

  • The Rock’s Instagram video showed uncensored WWE footage of him beating Cody Rhodes, with explicit language.
  • The Rock expressed frustration with being told to stop after the show ended, refusing to follow scripted rules.
  • Some speculate his R-rated promos may put him at odds with the network, but as part of TKO’s board, he has autonomy.

The Rock posted a video on Instagram on Friday, footage that was exclusively shot and not shown on WWE programming this week. The video is from the beatdown he laid on Cody Rhodes during Raw this week and after WWE cameramen and producers told both The Rock and Cody that the show was off air.

You can watch the video below. Just be aware, that the entire scene is full of foul language and definitely not suitable for work or certain environments.

You can hear producers say “We’re clear guys!” to which The Rock yells back, “Fu– that!” He goes on to say that just because they’re told the cameras aren’t rolling a live feed on network television doesn’t mean the beating stops. The Rock then goes on to whoop Cody in front of the camera crew and producers, before wiping blood on his weight belt again, warning Mamma Rhodes and walking off.

Fans in-house at the Allstate Arena caught what Rock said when the network his the mute button.

As part of the Instagram post, The Rock wrote in the description:

I hate constraints and bullshit rules – and just because some
@wwe
producer says, “clear” (meaning, we are no longer live on the air and the show is over) that doesn’t mean I just stop whatever I’m doing and tell everyone great job. It fu—ing pissed me off. I can’t shut my emotions off just because a script says we’re done. But this is a microcosm of a larger issue I have with individuals, corporations & governments – telling us what we can or can’t do. You have to do it this way, you have to say it that way, or you’ll get canceled. They create fear if you have a different perspective and don’t live by their rules. It’s their way, or no way.

He added, “F— that. I say it the way I want to say it. I do it the way I want to do it. My choice. Our choice.: He then signed off as the Final Boss.

The Rock Has Gone Full R-Rated Bad Guy

There’s been a lot of talk lately about The Rock’s language choices in the promos on Raw and SmackDown. Some believe he’s in hot water with the network and some other performers backstage how there is a different set of rules for him as opposed to others. At the same time, he’s on the Board of Directors for TKO and the buck stops with him. If he’s prepared to handle the backlash, he can essentially do what he wants.

That people are talking about his colorful language is likely only making him lean more into it.
