UK tabloid apologized to Prince Harry over phone hacking trial

A member of the British royal family, Prince Harry, always makes headlines from time to time. Lately, he has been in the news for attending King Charles’s coronation ceremony. Harry has been involved in the phone hacking case and has appeared in court multiple times for it. Recently, the editor of the Daily Mirror, a British tabloid, apologized to Harry.

According to CNN reports, The Daily Mirror has apologized to Prince Harry for illegally obtaining details about his personal life. The trial in the phone hacking case began on Wednesday.

The tabloid claimed that it “unreservedly apologizes and accepts that Harry is entitled to adequate compensation” for an incident that occurred twenty years earlier. The newspaper had hired a private investigator at the time for $95 to gather information on the Duke of Sussex at a London nightclub.

According to them, the economic arrangement they had with the investigator “represented an instruction to dedicate themselves to the collection of illegal information.” Furthermore, he said that Prince William received a considerable payment from Rupert Murdoch.

This was done so that the royal family would remain silent about the phone hacking case. Harry and Meghan Markle have launched at least seven legal actions against the British media since the case began in 2019.
