Why WWE Would Be Making A Terrible Mistake In Bringing Back Nia Jax

Highlights

  • WWE’s women’s division is currently lacking star power and needs to focus on building new names rather than bringing back failed old names like Nia Jax.
  • Nia Jax’s return would be a massive mistake made by Triple H, as she has a history of reckless wrestling style and injuring other wrestlers, including Kairi Sane.
  • With rumors of Kairi Sane’s return to WWE, it makes even less sense to bring back Nia Jax, considering Jax’s previous injury to Sane and the need to prioritize talent like Sane over Jax.

WWE has continued its strong run from last July through most of 2023, with the product remaining hot and the fans remaining extremely excited for Raw, SmackDown, and the Premium Live Events. Under Triple H’s creative control, the company has entered a new “hot era”, doing great business and bringing fans around the world great joy and entertainment! Another aspect of Triple H’s time in charge has been the return of a number of wrestlers let go by the previous regime. Names such as Johnny Gargano, Mia Yim, Karrion Kross, Scarlett, and The Good Brothers have all made their way back onto the WWE Roster, and reports have begun to swirl about another potential return, though this time, featuring a much more controversial name.

If recent reports are to be believed, Nia Jax has been talked about for a full-time return to WWE, as one of the new-old names being brought into the fold under Triple H. It remains to be seen if this is true, however, if it is, that means nothing but bad news for the women’s division, as bringing the former WWE Women’s Champion back would be a massive mistake made by Triple H.

The Women’s Division Needs New Stars, Not Failed Old Names

2023 has proven to be not the best year for women’s wrestling across the board, not just in WWE. While WrestleMania featured an all-time great Women’s Championship bout between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley, much of the women’s offerings this year have been lackluster, to say the least. Outside of the biggest names in the divisions, names such as Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, and Rhea Ripley, most of the women on Raw and SmackDown feel like nobodies. On top of that, the women barely get to wrestle compared to the men, with recent examples seeing WWE giving the women less than 10 minutes of in-ring time over the span of five hours of television, and another being the fact that Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus, two of the company’s biggest stars who have been feuding for months, were both left off of SummerSlam with no reason given. That is not an issue that bringing back Nia Jax will fix.

Instead of bringing back a name that most fans disliked and didn’t shed a tear over being released, the company should look at the current state of their women’s divisions and focus on building up new stars in the form of names like Candice Lerae, Indi Hartwell, Isla Dawn, and Alba Fyre. Alternatively, there are a bevy of free agents on the market that WWE could sign, either for the main roster or NXT, allowing more names to be brought up from developmental. Regardless, while fans recognize Nia Jax’s name, she is not some megastar that will help fix the issues with the women’s wrestling problems plaguing WWE currently.

With The Rumored Return Of Kairi Sane, A Nia Jax Comeback Makes Even Less Sense

As if there were not enough reasons for WWE to not bring Nia Jax back into the fold once again, another reason sprouted up around the same time that the rumors of Jax’s return began. Ahead of SummerSlam 2023, reports began to spread that Kairi Sane, former NXT Women’s Champion and former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, would be making her return to WWE later this year, with her finishing up her dates in Japan this September with promotions such as Stardom and AJPW. That is great news for fans of women’s wrestling in WWE, as Kairi is a world class talent and did not get the fair shake she deserved in her first run. However, there is the glaring issue of bringing her back while also looking at re-hiring Nia Jax, who infamously injured Kairi Sane during a match. Jax showed her reckless wrestling style on full display, throwing Kairi into the ring steps in a wanton manner, putting the Japanese Superstar on the shelf for a period of time.

Injuries happen in wrestling, that is just part of the sport. However, Kairi is not the only woman that Nia Jax injured during her time on the main roster, with her being seen as an unsafe worker by not only her colleagues, but by fans watching the product as well. Should WWE actually bring Kairi back into the fold, it would be in their best interest to not bring Nia back at all, and use the money planned for her to pay Kairi more, or to hire another talented free agent instead of Jax.
