WWE it releases people regularly, and most of the time it is finally done to allow the list to be updated. The company will cut employees who are not used frequently, and that opens up space for new people to make an impact on the business.
However, over the years there have been many cases where it has become clear that someone was wrongfully terminated. Whether it’s because of backstage politics or an in-ring issue that could have been resolved, many wrestlers have had their dreams cut short by WWE for no good reason, having to move to new pastures.
10/10 sunrise mary
Dawn Marie’s release from WWE was highly controversial and something that should never have happened the way it did. She was pregnant and had six months left on her contract, but rather than let that continue to pay, the company decided to terminate Marie’s contract.
It was a very disrespectful move, and something a lot of people weren’t happy about at the time. She chose to walk away from the wrestling business after that time and now works as a nurse.
9/10 Jim Ross
Jim Ross was one of the most loyal WWE employees of all time, but he was constantly mistreated. His last full-time run with WWE ended after a press conference in which Ric Flair got drunk and was deemed out of control, and since JR was leading, he got the worst of it.
It reappeared afterwards, but only sporadically, and never at the same level. However, she currently works for AEW and is commenting every week. He’s mostly a part of AEW Rampage now, but he’s used on pay-per-views as well, and JR continues to paint some great stories like only he can.
8/10 mr kennedy
There was a lot of controversy surrounding Mr. Kennedy’s release because it came from Randy Orton’s behind-the-scenes politics. Kennedy was a bright spark in wrestling at the time, and most people expected him to be a big star in the long run, but he wasn’t.
Orton was unhappy with Kennedy inside the ring during a match and the complaints led to him being let go. Right now, the former Money In The Bank winner occasionally competes on the independent scene and also trains the new talent.
7/10 Paul London
Paul London has always been open and honest about his time in WWE, being extremely vocal when it comes to his complaints. London ended up falling out with WWE after he smirked in a backstage segment leading up to Vince McMahon’s limo spot.
This eventually came down to him being let go, which was a bad reason for it to happen. Recently, London returned to wrestling to compete for VEW, but lately she has been mostly focused on different acting roles.
6/10 arn anderson
Arn Anderson had been working for WWE for years when the company decided to release him from his contract after an issue involving Alicia Fox at a live event. He worked a game drunk, and Anderson was the person who took the blame for that situation, despite his years of experience.
Today, Anderson works for AEW and continues to be a part of the wrestling business. He was Cody Rhodes’ on-screen manager during his time with the company, and now focuses primarily on being a behind-the-scenes trainer for the roster.
5/10 Rory McAllister
Being in a tag team can bring its benefits, but there are no doubts that there are also negatives that come with it, and that is something that Rory McAllister discovered when he was released by the company due to the actions of his label. teammate
Robbie McAllister went to see a TNA show and was paraded on camera, something the company didn’t appreciate, but instead of just releasing him, they were both fired. However, Rory is no longer involved in wrestling, as he works for a major courier company.
4/10 brian danielson
Bryan Danielson ended up being one of the best in WWE history and someone who will one day enter the Hall of Fame. However, his initial run with the company ended controversially because he technically did what he was told, which was to cause as much chaos as possible during Nexus’ debut.
However, choking Justin Roberts with his tie was against PG rules and the sponsors demanded answers from WWE, causing him to lose his job. Of course he would come back and make a big impact, but right now he is part of AEW in the Blackpool Combat Club faction.
3/10 maria kanellis
When WWE cut tons of talent during the COVID-19 era, fans weren’t happy. The company was making huge profits, and the idea that someone should lose their job at that point was hard to swallow, especially Maria Kanellis, who claimed WWE had pressured them to re-sign earlier that year due to having a young family.
Kanellis had only given birth to her second child a few months earlier, so losing her job when no work was available felt bad. Fortunately, she landed on her feet and, along with her husband and Matt Taven, recently signed with AEW.
2/10 Jeff Hardy
Jeff Hardy’s recent WWE release is something that sparked controversy at the time, as the company was unhappy with his actions and that led them to require a drug test from him. Considering his background, it made sense, but he didn’t want that to happen and they let him go.
The situation ended up being complicated as Matt Hardy claimed that Jeff had a clean test, but his brother refused rehab at the time. He has since joined AEW, returning to work with Matt. Unfortunately, he has since been arrested for a DUI, and his future in wrestling is unclear.
1/10 Muhammad Hassan
Muhammad Hassan was controversially fired by WWE simply because of the stunt he was playing on television at the time, rather than anything related to his talent. Hassan’s character tapped into terrorism, and he wasn’t right for the TV that saw him get taken out.
While returning to development, Hassan was fired and the situation effectively ended his wrestling career. Today, Hassan is a high school principal who has thrived outside of the wrestling world.
