In anticipation of his highly awaited bout against Jaime Munguia, Canelo Alvarez exhibits a remarkable display of physical transformation during a gym session. The Mexican boxing sensation, set to defend his undisputed super-middleweight title against his compatriot on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, appears to spare no effort in his preparations.

Álvarez and PBC reportedly parted ways in late February just one fight into a three-bout contract. However, they came to terms to make the Munguia fight. In his last outing, he defeated Jermell Charlo by a wide decision.

In a recent update on his Instagram story, Canelo showcases his chiseled physique as he grooves to the beat of Mexican music while training. Departing from his usual training grounds, Canelo has chosen Lake Tahoe, California, as his training base, situated approximately 6,000 feet above sea level, a decision he credits to enhance his performance.

During an interview on the Big Fight Weekend podcast, Canelo expressed his satisfaction with the training environment, emphasizing the benefits of altitude training. “I feel great when I train in the altitude,” he stated, underscoring the strategic choice of Lake Tahoe for its conducive training conditions.

To further sharpen his skills, Canelo has engaged in sparring sessions with esteemed contenders such as former middleweight world title challenger Maciej Sulecki and Ghanaian super-middleweight Sena Agbeko. Their similar physical attributes to Munguia ensure Canelo is well-prepared for the impending all-Mexican clash.


Meanwhile, Munguia, touted as one of the most promising prospects in the super-middleweight division, boasts a commendable track record, including victories over Sergiy Derevyanchenko and John Ryder at 168lbs. Munguia sent the British contender to retirement with a ninth-round technical knockout while Alvarez defeated Ryder with a laboured decision victory.

Despite initial speculation surrounding a potential showdown with David Benavidez, negotiations faltered, prompting Benavidez to announce a move up to light-heavyweight to face Oleksandr Gvozdyk in a WBC final eliminator in June.

As the countdown to the highly anticipated May 4 event continues, fans eagerly await the electrifying spectacle as both men are action fighters.
