Brendan Fraser praises Sadie Sink’s performance in ‘The Whale’

Brendan Fraser loves his co-star Sadie Sink’s performance. The actor recently recalled his career in a video for GQ, and while talking about his latest film The Whale. The highly praised scene partner Sink, 20, who plays his daughter in the drama. Fraser shared, “The fluidity with which Sadie plays, this beautiful, controlled anger, was impressive to me.” The actor added, “I was constantly upping my lines. And that’s just because I have cobwebs up there and I was wearing a lot of equipment, but also because my jaw was open.”

Brendan added: “I’m not kidding.” “Looking at her work, she won the ball game every day we worked, I tell you,” he said. Fraser also applauded fellow cast member Hong Chau for his “authenticity”. He said that she “makes everyone around her better. She elevates the material by how personal she makes it. There is some kind of alchemy in her process that she makes you believe everything she does or says. It’s amazing.

Previously, Sink shared with People how she’s beginning to feel “a lot more empowered” in her career. “I’m proud of how much more comfortable I’ve become not only in my personal life but also in my professional life,” the Stranger Things star said. “I think I was really shy when I started because everything was really new and scary, so it’s been nice as I’ve grown to not be so shy. I think I can speak my mind a little more.”

The actress explained that she learned to “get over” her nerves: “You just have to go ahead and finally say, ‘Why was I so nervous?’ I feel like I’ve relaxed a bit.” Directed by The Wrestler and Black Swan filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, The Whale is about a lonely man, played by Brendan Fraser, who tries to repair his relationship with his estranged teenage daughter, played by Sadie Sink.

Along with Brendan Fraser, the cast of The Whale also includes Stranger Things star Sadie Sink as Charlie’s daughter Ellie, Hong Chau (Downsizing) as Charlie’s nurse and partner Liz, Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3). as Mormon missionary Thomas and Samantha Morton (Synecdoche, New York) as Charlie’s ex-wife, Mary. The Whale is scheduled to hit theaters on December 9.
