Proving that Ezekiel’s character isn’t going away anytime soon, WWE featured his entire family on Raw this past Monday night. There was talk that maybe with some redesigned WWE characters under Triple H and with Ezekiel being eliminated by Kevin Owens last week that he could be among them, it became pretty clear that’s not the plan. In fact, WWE seems to be betting on Elias/Ezekiel playing multiple characters and his family having multiple members.
WWE announcers discussed Ezekiel’s injuries at the hands of Kevin Owens and then showed a photo of him in a hospital bed surrounded by his family. His father Ernie Jr. had a message for Owens threatening to hurt him if he ever got his hands on the Prize Fighter. WWE then posted that same photo on social media and mentioned that some of the people in the photo had names, but asked WWE to name the rest. While Ezekiel, Elias, and Ernie Jr. are clearly the names of three, there is also what appears to be a mother/grandmother, a young child, and possibly the other brother (rumored to be Elrod).
How far does WWE plan to go?
While the photo is pretty hilarious and will spark some interesting chatter as fans try to name every member of the family, what exactly is WWE’s endgame here? Is this something they plan to run with after Ezekiel is healthy and WWE shows different characters appearing at different times on TV? They are clearly aware that aside from some special effects, they won’t be able to have every member of the family in the ring at the same time.
This is good for a few laughs, but then what? Is the plan to keep adding family members? Will any of them fight? Does Ernie Jr. really plan to go after Kevin Owens?
