Hugh Jackman details training for ‘Wolverine’

Hugh Jackman is set to play Wolverine in Deadpool 3, and the actor is opening up about his workout routine. The Academy Award nominee revealed that his workout routine to reprise his role as the X-Men in the next Deadpool installment will be “my work for six months.”

The actor recently appeared on ‘Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?’ from CNN and HBO Max. and during his appearance, the actor explained: “I have learned that you cannot rush. I’ve learned that it takes time.” He further added: “So, we have six months since I finished [Broadway’s The Music Man] until when I started filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I will be with my family and train. That will be my job for six months.”

Jackman continues: “And I’m really in shape right now. There’s one thing about eight shows a week singing and dancing on Broadway is that I’m in shape. So, I’m healthy. I have a good place to start. And apologies, chickens. Run a mile. Start running now because I’m coming for you.” For the uninitiated, the actor first played the Marvel comic book character in 2000’s X-Men, and has since played the role in 10 movies, including the upcoming Deadpool installment.

Not too long ago, Jackman and his longtime friend Ryan Reynolds announced in a video posted that he would be reprising the character from the Marvel comic, alongside Reynolds’ titular mercenary super-healer. After Reynolds joked that he had run out of ideas for a new sequel, he asked Jackman if he would return, to which the actor casually replied, “Yeah, sure.”

Meanwhile, Jackman previously said on The Empire Film Podcast that, much like their comic book dynamic, Deadpool and Wolverine “are opposites” and “hate each other” in the upcoming film. Jackman and Ryan have a very strong bond of friendship. They have always been seen slapping each other but in a fun way. And more recently, Deadpool star Hugh jokingly requested that the Academy Awards not nominate Ryan Reynolds for the Best Song Oscar. For the inexperienced, Ryan’s voice was heard in Good Afternoon from his last Christmas movie.
