WrestleMania is WWE’s highest profile event of the year every year. WWE has made WrestleMania such a big show that WrestleMania now runs for two nights on a single weekend. Along with the matches, whoever is involved, WWE selects theme songs for WrestleMania that are culturally relevant and complement the overall vibe of the event.
The songs that WWE has chosen over the years have varied in genres, such as hip-hop and rap, pop, rock, metal and some alternative. No matter what genre, these theme songs have effectively added to WrestleMania and made it more exciting.
10/10 Touch – WrestleMania 20
“Touche” is a rock song by the band Godsmack, and was released the same year as WrestleMania 202004. This song features a nice combination of drums and guitar while telling a story about relationships and how they treat you the way you treat others.
Since WrestleMania 20was promoted as a night to celebrate WWE history, “Touche” was an apt choice to promote the idea of fans coming together with the roster to enjoy the show.
9/10 Ladies and gentlemen – WrestleMania 23
“Ladies And Gentlemen” is a song that combines rock and metal by the band Saliva. It was released in 2007 and is a very appropriate song for WrestleMania.. There’s a sound effect throughout the song that resembles being in an arena, as the singer describes in somewhat graphic detail just how much excitement fans will experience.
There are some heavy guitars and drums to accompany the lyrics. With this song, Saliva created a track for rock music and WWE fans to enjoy.
8/10 I made it – WrestleMania 26
“I Made It,” a Kevin Rudolf hip-hop rap song featuring Birdman, Lil Wayne and Jay Sean, sings and raps. Kevin Rudolf and Jay Sean sing, while Birdman and Lil Wayne rap, and the overall message is about how hard work and perseverance finally pays off.
There’s a vibe of proving critics wrong and making one’s goals successful. All of these aspects of this song are consistent with WrestleMania and these artists were popular at the time of WrestleMania 26so it was a good choice for this show.
7/10 Written in the stars – WrestleMania 27
“Written In The Stars,” a hip-hop rap song by Tinie Tempah featuring Eric Turner, describes how self-confidence and betting on yourself are keys to achieving your dreams. There are vibes of overcoming obstacles and putting in the time and effort to prove the critics wrong.
Between the song’s message and the accompanying background music, “Written In The Stars” was a good choice for a WrestleMania theme song. This applies especially for WrestleMania 27 as the defending WWE Champion that year, The Miz, has proven that message to be true.
6/10 Go big – WrestleMania 21
“Big Time” is a song that combines the pop and alternative genres of the band, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives. The song describes how the time has come to embrace the future and how everyone will be included in that future. This idea is key to wrestling twenty-one because WWE was in a state of transition at the time when it came to creating new main event wrestlers.
John Cena and Batista became world champions that night to cement their status as WWE stars of the future. Along with the other matches at WrestleMania 21, “Bigtime” was a good choice to promote the future of WWE in 2005.
5/10 Superstar – WrestleMania 18
“Superstar” is a rock song by the band Saliva, and the song describes a person who wants to become famous at the expense of an already established star. The song also describes the luxuries of that same fame, such as limousines and appearing in magazines. “Superstar” was a very appropriate choice for wrestling 18 because a legendary wrestler on that show was in that position.
The Rock wrestled Hulk Hogan that night, and Hogan put him over the top, so The Rock could be recognized as a Hogan-level superstar in the future. Considering how superstar The Rock is today, “Superstar” was the song to promote that match.
4/10 My Way – WrestleMania 17
“My Way”, a song that combines the rock, metal and rap genres of the band Limp Bizkit, was a great choice for wrestling 17. That night’s main event match, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. The Rock, was touted as one of the biggest matches at WrestleMania. That ended up being true, with this song describing how two fighters with big egos want to fight one more time to establish their dominance.
Both Steve Austin and The Rock wanted the match to go their own way, both for the WWE title and for being seen as superior to each other. “My Way” was a great song to represent that story, which is why WWE fans remember it well years later.
3/10 Light It Up – WrestleMania 24
“Light It Up”, a rock song by the band Rev Theory, describes a person who lives life to the fullest and enjoys their experiences. That song was popular in the rock genre at the time and the message was consistent with WrestleMania. The fans who attend WrestleMania are there to enjoy the show and the wrestlers put on the show to entertain those fans.
The main event matches in wrestling 24 featured fighters like Triple H, Randy Orton, John Cena, Edge, and The Undertaker. If there was any night of WWE action to enjoy the show, WrestleMania 24fit into that bill.
2/10 Rise – WrestleMania 31
“Rise” is a song that combines dance and electronic music by renowned DJ David Guetta with Skyler Grey. This song describes how even if someone is knocked down and feels like they have lost hope, they can still get back up and overcome barriers.
The bass in this song is very intense and entertaining as it tells the story of WWE wrestlers who get knocked down in their matches and strive to win again. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns headline WrestleMania 31so Reigns definitely had to get up to fight Lesnar.
1/10 Invincible – WrestleMania 28
This rap song by Machine Gun Kelly, featuring Ester Dean, describes how a person who has dealt with adversity in their past has the ability and power to work hard for their own success and dreams. Machine Gun Kelly was describing his life story in this song, and the same message was applied to John Cena for his match against The Rock.
This song is great for message and background music and could inspire people who have goals to overcome their difficulties and prove doubters wrong.
