THE VIDEO OF THE SPORTSMAN OF THE DAY

It seems that AEW’s Tony Khan was the first person to break the news on social media. He wrote in a tweet: “Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show to today. Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions until today. We will do everything we can to support his family. Rest in peace, Jamin.” The world of wrestling heard the news and began to share his thoughts and condolences, many were shocked to learn that he had passed away in a car accident. Dave Meltzer reports: “Two people in a car were killed in an accident at 5:30 pm in Laurel, Maryland. This is terribly tragic news.”

This is a sad day for wrestling fans.

Briscoe wasn’t potentially very well known to many WWE fans, but he was well known on the independent circuit and to AEW fans thanks to a few matches with FTR last year. He was part of one of the great tag teams that hadn’t received a major platform, and his passing isn’t news fans expected to hear today.

We here at TheSportster send our condolences to his friends and family.
